Why did Belichick run off the field into the locker room before the game was over last night?

Running off the field before the game was over made him look like a poor sport to me.

blackoutparty111: I saw him go congratulate Coughlin, but part of being coach is dealing with tough losses publically and being on the sideline to the end. Somebody told him that there was time left on the clock and he went to the locker room anyway. Just made him look like a poor sport in my eyes.

PS. Saying “he didn’t know the time ran out cuz the clock said zero” is a stupid argument. The one you see on the TV isn’t the official clock..He knew what time it was…
It showed just how much class the man and the organization has: none.
loosing coaches always leave the field. one second is exactly like you said just one second… thats why it didnt matter. i bet if you loose you would want to leave too.

he didn’t know…the clock read zero at one point and then he ran off the field….and he didn’t run to the locker room…he ran to say good game to tom coughlin. he thought the game was over and say good game to the opposing coach, how is that being a poor sport?

I understand your point, but c’mon…1 second? What can you do with 1 second on the clock? The game was over & Belichick knew it. Besides, the timekeepers PUT 1 second back on the clock after it ran down to 0:00. If you wanna say he was a poor sport & that he should’ve stayed on the field, ok. But the Giants knew they were gonna win & the Patriots knew the Giants were gonna win. There was no point in it.
Well he just lost the Super Bowl and with only 1 second left it would not matter much if he stayed around for another second. But I am glad the New York Giants won.

As for the people that attempt to even say that he didn’t know the game wasn’t over is just as bad as he is. He was told he had to get off the field because the game wasn’t over. Once he knew that he could’ve watched the clock to wait for the :00.

He’s definately a poor sport. They crushed opponents all year long…running up the score, makint the other team look horrible, yet when the shoe is on the other foot he can’t take a little pain for a little bit. It really shows what kind of person he is, granted he’s a great coach..when the team isn’t cheating but when it comes down to reality and he takes a loss, frustration sets in and the frustration and humiliation builds to where it seems he doesn’t want to show his face…so off the field he goes, with his head down!
I agree – it’s because he is a poor sport. the patriots were inviting the giants to their victory parties during the game. when they had their ***** handed to them, they sulked away.
