How to find value bets in sports and horse racing?
Case asked:
I understand about value bets from poker, where the pot odds are better than the odds of making a winning hand, playing that over time will be consistently profitable.

However how do you know when the payoff odds are higher than real odds in sports and horses? I know the public determine the odds in horses so itmight be easier I guess. Is it really possible to find value bets in sports though?

In sports, look for what are known as “sucker spreads.” The best known example would be the line for Superbowl XLII a year ago. The Pats were covering double digit point spreads throughout much of the season. But near the end of the season, not so much. So, the line for Superbowl had the Pats favored by 13 or so at open. The lines moved to -11 or so (depending on your sportsbook) because there was so much action on the Giants. Books were looking for a lot of “suckers” to give the points and take the Pats.
There are other factors, too. Like stats and matchups. In basketball, look for FG %, FT%, points for and against, rebounds, etc. Hockey, look at goals for and against, PP%, PK%, GAA, etc. These all can be found on Yahoo or at your sportsbook of choice.
Lines are designed to get equal action on both sides, but you can find a good pick across multiple sports daily.
you have the stone cold nuts…..bet too much and your opponent folds..bet too little when your opponent will call more and you allow your opponent to save chips he otherwise would have donated…what the f-uc-k are you talking about….
